Do I need to change my habits?

Using tobacco, alcohol or drugs can seriously harm your baby and can even cause a miscarriage. If you use tobacco, alcohol or drugs, get help from your doctor to quit.

Smoking: Smoking can cause miscarriage, bleeding, premature birth and low birth weight. It's also linked to sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), in which infants suddenly die of no obvious cause. Children of smokers may also do less well on IQ tests and their physical growth may be slower.

Alcohol: Drinking during pregnancy can cause fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS). FAS can lead to many birth defects, including mental problems, slow growth, defects of the face and a head that is too small. Doctors do not know how much alcohol it takes to cause FAS, so it is important to avoid alcohol completely during your pregnancy.

Illegal drugs: Using marijuana, cocaine and other illegal drugs increases the risk of miscarriage, premature birth and birth defects. With some drugs, the child will be born addicted to the drug that the mother abused and will go through withdrawal.

When I am pregnat what should I eat?

What you eat will also feed your baby. Junk food like potato chips, soda and cookies won't have the right nutrients for your baby. You want to make sure you get plenty of calcium, folic acid (see box below), protein and iron. Talk with your doctor about what nutrients you need and how to get them.

You might also need to make some changes if you follow a vegetarian or weight-loss diet. Talk with your doctor before taking extra vitamins and minerals. Some may actually be harmful, like high doses of vitamin A.

Your College Library

A college library is a library where the students and the teachers of a college can read and borrow books. Our college has a big library. It is housed in a separate two storied building. The library has a good collection. There are many almirahs. Both text and reference book on all subjects are available in the library. The books are arranged in different shelves according to subjects. In spite of a rich collection books on current issues and topics are needed to keep with time. A library is a store house of knowledge. A library plays an important role in the realm of knowledge. The students and the teachers of the college can read there and make notes. A library is a part and parcel of a college.

A Railway Station

A railway station is a place where trains stop and start from. It is a part and parcel of train communication of a country. There is a platform here. The passengers get down and get into a train from a railway station. The building of a station are generally made of red bricks. One can see from a distance the green, red and blue signal and painted houses of a station. There are waiting rooms for male and female passengers. There are ticket counter, the booking office for goods, restaurants, book stall and station master’s room etc. there are two or more railway tracks in every station. There are two signals one inner and the other outer. Before the arrival of a train the points man gets them down. The points man moves with his red and green flags. There are stands for rickshaw, auto rickshaws and other vehicles in a railway station. Before the arrival of a train passengers stand in a line to buy their tickets. When a train arrives, the station becomes busy and noisy. When a train leaves the station, it again becomes calm and quiet.

A Fisherman

A fisherman is a person who earns his livelihood by catching and selling fishes. Generally a fisherman lives by the rivers, big canals, marshy lands and seas for his professional advantages. A fisherman lives with his family. He works hard all day and all night. He is always busy in making his fishing nets, repairing them, taking care of his fishing boat, dying and painting them. He passes most of his time in fishing in the river and in the sea. Sometimes he goes in the deep sea for fishing and his family becomes anxious about his safe return. He faces dangers. He has no radio set and motor boats. He can not listen to the weather warning. So he can not return to the shore safely. A fisherman leads a very poor life. He has hardly nets and boats of his own. He is not given loans on easy terms. His face beams with smile when he catches a lot of fish. A fisherman does much good to us by supplying us with fish. So a fisherman plays an important role like a farmer.

A Tourist Guide

A tourist guide is he who guides tourists to various tourist spots. Now a days tourism has become a recognized industry in many countries of the world. They have some interesting historical places and scenic beauty. These spots are used as tourist spots. The countries earn a lot of foreign exchanges through this industry. Tourism is manned by different classes of people. Of them tourist guides are very important. A tourist guide is extremely helpful for the tourists. He starts serving them after being trained in the Tourism Training Institute. However, the job is not easy. He is required to be very polite and friendly with the tourists. Besides, he must be able enough to satisfy their queries. Therefore he has to be fully conversant with the objects and people of the place where he guides the tourists. He also has to be very good at history. He must have a good command over English. A tourist guide makes all other arrangements for a comfortable and fruitful stay of the tourists. The jobs of a tourist guide are difficult but thrilling. Bangladesh Projection Corporation has been imparting training to the young boys and girls to make more tourist guides for the promotion of tourism in our country.

Your College Common Room

A college common room is the part and parcel of a college. Where students come, take rest and make friendship. It keeps a college always fresh, live and cheerful. Our college has a big common room. There are chairs, tables and benches in the common room. There are a radio and a TV for the recreation of the students. Almost all the dailies, weeklies and other magazines are available here. Students come here, listen to radio, watch TV, read newspapers and discuss many things. It is a nice place for the students for indoor games. In off period the students play caroms, chess, table-tennis etc. sometimes students discuss politics here. Students never want to stay in the classes all the time. A common plays an important role in removing the monotony of the students. Our common room is a nice and useful place indeed.
